Certified Home Health

Home health is covered under the Part A Medicare benefit. It consists of part-time, medically necessary skilled care (nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy) that is ordered by a physician. If patients are eligible for skilled services, they can also receive part-time assistance with personal care needs from a home health aide. Patients are required to be “homebound” as a condition of eligibility for these services.

Medicare certified home health agencies are required to conduct comprehensive assessments of all patients and participate in the federal program Outcome Assessment Information Set (OASIS). Certified home health agencies electronically submit OASIS health information on Medicare patients to measure patient outcomes for quality improvement. Public reporting on selected outcome measures is available by accessing the CMS website.

Some ResCare HomeCare branches are Medicare Certified Home Health Agencies.  Contact the branch office nearest you for more information about certified home health services available in your area.
