Post-hospitalization Care and Support after Cosmetic or Reconstructive Surgery

Cosmetic surgery such as face lifts, rhinoplasty, liposuction, breast augmentation, and other types of cosmetic or reconstructive surgery can be necessary and/or improve the quality of your life, but it can be very hard to recover from. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), most patients need to restrict their normal activities for a time following most cosmetic plastic surgical procedures.  It takes time, as well, for the visible signs of healing to subside. ASAPS recommends planning work and social activities to allow sufficient time for recovery.

The first week after cosmetic or reconstructive surgery is the most clinically critical and when rest is most important. After several days you may begin to feel restless and want to resume normal activities. This is a crucial period because your body is still recovering and very fragile.
